Bangalore, India-First IT-based BMT unit

The Sankalp India Foundation is our major partner in India. C2C has collaborated with this young and dynamic group of volunteers centered in Bangalore-India, since 2013 and developed two bone marrow transplantation units, one in Bangalore, at the  Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital (moving from the People Tree Hospital), and one in Ahmedabad at CIMS Hospital.  As of November 2022, Sankalp India Foundation has performed 410 BMTs with an overall cure rate of 86%, including matched and mismatched-related (haploidentical) transplants. The great majority of these children have returned to a normal health-related quality of life. The cost of these BMTs, including all medical expenses for 12 months after transplant, ranged from 15.000 USD (matched-related) to 25.000 USD (haploidentical). The new and expanded BMJH unit was developed largely thanks to DKMS contribution.
