Nani Vavdi is a very small village near the town of Morbi, in the western part of Gujarat. Bhaudeep is a school rickshaw driver and his wife Varshaba have two children. The second, Kamaraj, at 6 months of age became pale and irritable. He was diagnosed with thalassemia and began monthly transfusions. Eventually the family contacted the Sankalp India Foundation which raised the necessary funds for the bone marrow transplant, which took place on June 29, 2019 in our partner center in Ahmedabad. Kamaraj has just turned 4 and is a normal child.
