We are waiting for Pakistan Human Organ Transplant Authority green light to start operations at our new bone marrow transplant unit in Islamabad at the Dr Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital. Hopefully this will happen by the end of the year. More at Islamabad, Pakistan Project
Since our latest transplant procedure updates, in March 2017, 43 children with thalassemia have undergone BMT in our partner centers in India and Pakistan, with no transplant-related deaths and only one rejection so far.
Sickle Cell Disease is the most common non-infectious life-threatenng disease of children in Sub-Sadaran Africa and a major cause of suffering and disability. Cure2Children hopes to help set up a center for its cure in Accra.
Thousands of patients with thalassemia are benefiting from this collaboration and close to 100 have been cured by bone marrow transplantation since 2015. We hope to extend this model also to Sickle Cell Disease in Africa.
